FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAY: Blizzard warning issued in south Louisiana
Heavy snowfall across metro Baton Rouge.

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A blizzard warning was issued for southwest Louisiana Tuesday morning as a strong line of snow moved into the state from the west.
The blizzard warning, extending from Beaumont, Texas to Lafayette, Louisiana meant the National Weather Service was forecasting frequent gusts to 35 MPH with snow reducing visibility to ¼ mile or less.

It was believed to be the first blizzard warning ever issued for the Lake Charles area.
Snow began to fall in metro Baton Rouge around 2:45 a.m., leading to road closures around the region.
