Meijer recalls more than 38,000 gallons of water because of floating black substance

LANSING, Mich. (WILX/Gray News) - Meijer is recalling more than 38,000 gallons of water in six states due to a “floating black foreign substance in the product,” the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said.

The recall affects Meijer Steam Distilled Water sold in one-gallon plastic jugs with red lids.

The water carries a sell-by date of Oct. 4, 2026, with lot code 39-222 No. 3, product ID 472859 and Meijer item code 477910.

The recall applies to Meijer stores in Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Wisconsin.
