Several cited after riding on the roof of an SUV at 40 mph, police say

(Gray News) – A group of young adults was cited earlier this month after riding on top of an SUV down the street at 40 mph.

The Belle Isle Florida Police Department said in a Facebook post that the driver was issued a citation for reckless driving and a passenger inside the vehicle was cited for an open container.

The four passengers who chose the roof were each cited for riding on the outside of a vehicle.

“We’re all for making memories with friends, but becoming a traffic safety lesson isn’t the kind of memory anyone should be aiming for,” police said.
