BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
Baton Rouge continues to be a hot spot for films and now, it is getting to be more popular with television shows as well with the announcement of a TV series being shot in the Capital area.
The A&E series "Breakout Kings" will relocate to Baton Rouge in October and shoot through early 2012.
Mayor Kip Holden said this is the first television show to shoot an entire season in Baton Rouge.
"Baton Rouge is rapidly gaining a reputation as the Hollywood of the South after several big-budget movies, including 'Battle: Los Angeles' and 'Twilight: Breaking Dawn,' have had positive experiences filming here," Holden said. "We are looking to build on that same type of success with our first television series."
The Feliciana parishes will also be in on the action as some taping is planned in those areas as well.
Officials said 10 episodes will be shot starting Oct. 19 and they will wrap in mid-February.
This will be its second season.
The show was created by the creators of the hit series, "Prison Break."
Starring Laz Alonso and Domenick Lombardozzi, it portrays a squad of U.S. marshals who team up with cons to track down prison escapees in exchange for getting time knocked off their sentences.
