Amelia Belle Casino Opens for the First Time

Wednesday, the Amelia Belle Casino in St. Mary Parish opened for the first time. Right now, it's still a little too soon to place your bets inside the riverboat.
A casino spokesman says the state gaming board granted permission for the Amelia Belle to open its doors for Wednesday night only.
It will close at midnight so the state board can check paperwork from the day of operation. It's sort of a shake-down cruise for the casino.
Once the Amelia Belle passes that inspection, it can open its doors for good. That could be as soon as Friday.
