EBR Parish Deputy Faces Drug Charges

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - An East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office deputy landed in jail for allegedly trying to distribute drugs in Parish Prison.

Deputies with the Sheriff's Office Narcotics Division arrested 24-year-old Kendrick Jamond Lockett at his home.

The arrest came after an investigation into the prison guard by members of the Sheriff's Office, the Baton Rouge Police Department and Louisiana Office of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. Authorities say the investigation also involved a confidential informant.

Lockett was booked into parish prison on one count of attempting to enter contraband into a penal facility, malfeasance in office, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to distribute Ecstasy, attempt to distribute marijuana and attempt to distribute Ecstasy.
