A Sweet End: Baton Rouge area bakery to close after years in business
EAST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) — A bakery in East Baton Rouge Parish is set to close this summer after its owners said they are pursuing careers that will allow them to spend more time with family.
Sugar Me Sweet Cakes & Confections will close in July 2026. The business has served the Baton Rouge area since opening in 2023.
“What began as a dream became something far greater because of the incredible support of this community,” the owners wrote in a post announcing the closure. “Over the years, we have had the great privilege of being part of your birthdays, weddings, baby showers, anniversaries, graduations, holidays and countless special moments.”
The shop will continue to fulfill orders through July 25. Owners said they will contact couples who placed wedding cake orders that are due after that date to discuss next steps.
Equipment and other bakery assets will be available for purchase, the owners wrote.
Sugar Me Sweet is on Rome Drive off Sullivan Road near Central. The shop sells cakes, cookies, cupcakes and pastries based on recipes inherited from Baum’s Fine Pastries.
