Pursuit reaches speeds of more than 100 mph, deputies say

PAINCOURTVILLE, La. (WAFB) - A man is locked up after he led law enforcement on a high-speed chase, according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Marcus Boutain Jr., 27, is facing multiple charges following the pursuit that took place on Friday, January 9.
The chase began after a deputy tried to pull Boutain over for a traffic violation at the intersection of LA 70 and Daggs Street near Paincourtville, authorities said. They added he refused to stop and continued driving, eventually turning south onto LA 308,
According to the sheriff’s office, the suspect drove recklessly and reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour during the pursuit.
Boutain’s charges include aggravated flight from an officer, driving while intoxicated, resisting an officer, driving under a suspended driver’s license, and speeding.
The suspect was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center and has a bond set at $100,000.
