WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH/Gray News) – Police in Wichita, Kansas, say a woman is safe after an investigation into a possible abduction caught on doorbell camera footage.

The Wichita Police Department released the video on Monday in hopes of identifying the woman who was seen apparently being taken against her will around 2 a.m. Sunday.

In the video, the woman appears to be approaching a front porch when she screams, “Kevin,” and a man comes from behind her, turns her around and forcibly walks her back to the street, where they both disappear.

On Tuesday afternoon, police said a 35-year-old woman “claiming to be the individual investigators were attempting to identify” called them, and they interviewed her about the incident.

“At this stage of the investigation, we believe this incident is a case of domestic violence where the female was victimized by her boyfriend. The female does not have any significant injuries,” police said.

Police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the case. He was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on charges that include aggravated battery, strangulation, two domestic battery counts and criminal restraint.

The Sedgwick County District Attorney’s Office will determine formal charges in the case.
