Man accused of accessing home surveillance cameras to watch woman for months, deputies say

ASCENSION PARISH, La. (WAFB) - A man has been arrested after allegedly accessing home surveillance cameras to watch a woman for months, deputies said.
According to the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office, the man, Mihn Ngo, 33, of Morgan City, is facing charges of video voyeurism, computer tampering, and stalking.
Authorities said that Ngo was an employee with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office but was terminated at the time of his arrest on Tuesday, September 16.
The investigation began on Thursday, September 11, after an Ascension Parish resident reported that Ngo had allegedly accessed her home surveillance cameras and watched her inside her home, deputies said. They added that a search warrant was obtained for several of Ngo’s devices, revealing that he had accessed the cameras during a period of at least four months.
Ngo was booked into the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office and was then transferred to the Ascension Parish Jail.
Officials with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office said they fully cooperated with investigators in Ascension Parish. An internal investigation was also started by the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office of Professional Standards.
“The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office exists to uphold the law, and no one is above the law, not even those who wear our badge,” St. Mary Parish Sheriff Gary Driskell said. “While it is never easy to arrest one of our own, it is necessary in order to maintain the trust of the citizens we serve. We will continue to hold ourselves to the highest standards of accountability and integrity.”
