9 arrested in string of armed robberies and drug deals; authorities find stashes of drugs, guns, over $60K

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Nine people were taken into custody for their alleged connection to a string of armed ATM robberies and drug deals in the capital area.
The multi-agency bust was carried out by the Baton Rouge Police Department and the East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, Feb. 27.
Police were investigating a group of suspects after several armed robberies of ATM technicians in Baton Rouge between August 2023 and February 2024. Deputies got involved when officers learned they were looking into some of the same suspects in a drug investigation.
Law enforcement agents made a controlled purchase of crack cocaine from the suspects on Scenic Highway on Tuesday evening.
Hours later, the agents heard from BRPD that another ATM technician was robbed and that the vehicle used in the crime was linked to the same suspects. Investigators later learned the vehicle was reported stolen out of Lake Charles.
The suspected vehicle appeared at the drug distribution location on Scenic Highway later that evening, and then left shortly after, with agents following behind.
While following the vehicle, the agents say they saw the suspects throwing “items” over the barrier wall on I-110 South near Harding Boulevard. Agents returned to that spot on the interstate and found the thrown-out evidence.
Authorities tried to stop the suspect vehicle, but when the pursuit reached a dead end on Mensia Place, the two people inside tried to run away.
Along with evidence found on I-110, deputies and police officers searched the suspects’ apartments and seized the following:
