WELLS, ME (WAFB) -

A dog from Wells, Maine appears grateful after giving thank you kisses to a firefighter who rescued him from a roof.

On Sunday, the Wells Maine Police Department released photos of the rescue, showing the dog sitting solo on top of the roof.

The photo of the adorable kiss has been making the rounds on social media.

Police said the dog managed to get on the roof through an upstairs window. Authorities had received multiple concerned calls about the stranded dog, including one citizen who stayed by the animal until rescuers arrived.

"Help me! I'm a curious doggie who managed to get out onto the roof and can't get down," the police department wrote in the hypothetical voice of the "doggie."

The police department and the Wells Fire Department worked in conjunction to save the dog.

But before the dog was taken down from roof, he made sure to thank the firefighter with the appreciative kiss.
