WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) -

East Baton Rouge Sheriff's deputies have discovered the body of the missing canoer.

Officials say the body of Kevin "Rooster" Guy of Port Allen was found late Wednesday afternoon about 10 miles south of the new Mississippi River bridge.

Guy was last seen around 11:30 p.m. Friday after working a concert in East Baton Rouge Parish. He reportedly told a band member that he was going to ride his bike to his canoe, which was docked at the river, and use the canoe to get back home.

Officials stated they received a report that two people were on the levee around midnight Friday and saw someone in a canoe paddling in the river from Baton Rouge to Port Allen.

Rescue crews spent four hours covering 175 miles of river on Tuesday. Officials had suspended the search Wednesday morning.

An autopsy will be done to determine the cause of death.
