Investigators said a 6-year-old boy was found less than an hour after being reported missing and a neighbor is now facing a kidnapping charge.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office reported David Ledet, 59, of Abita Springs, was booked into the parish prison on a charge of simple kidnapping. Deputies said more charges may be added as the investigation continues.

According to reports, the child was reported missing shortly before 6 p.m. and was found locked in Ledet's bathroom within the hour. Investigators said the boy's mother told them her son was playing outside and when she returned from the restroom, he was gone.

Authorities said the mother started looking for the child, but called 911 after Ledet reportedly told her he saw the child get into a white vehicle. Responding deputies started searching the area and found the boy locked in Ledet's bathroom a short time later.

The investigation is ongoing.
