THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) - A judge agreed to expand the investigation into the sanity of a father accused of murdering and dismembering his own 7-year-old son.

Psychiatrists will continue their investigation into whether Jeremiah Wright, 30, of Thibodaux was sane when he allegedly decapitated his disabled son, Jori Lirette.

Reportedly, doctors are scheduled to talk to Wright next week.

However, their reports won't be made public until after a hearing in October.

Wright was indicted on first-degree murder last month.

Authorities said Lirette was dismembered and his head was set in the yard of their home.

If convicted of first-degree murder, Wright would face possible sentences of either life in prison or execution.

The boy's body was found on Aug. 14.
