THIBODAUX, LA (WAFB) - Psychiatrists are scheduled to tell a Louisiana judge Tuesday whether they believe a man can help his lawyers defend him against charges he murdered his disabled son.

If Judge John LeBlanc rules Jeremiah Wright of Thibodaux is not competent to stand trial, Wright would go to a mental hospital for treatment.

A team of psychiatrists is expected to testify inside a Lafourche Parish courtroom later in the afternoon.

Wright is charged with first-degree murder in the beheading of his son, Jori Lirette.

The 7-year-old was confined to a wheelchair.
