Mary Kate Hamilton is a reporter for Atlanta News First (WANF). She came to Atlanta from First Alert 7 News in Midland–Odessa, Texas, where she served as an evening news anchor and reporter after starting as a weekend sports anchor in 2020. An Indianapolis native, Mary Kate graduated from Indiana University's Media School in 2020 as an Ernie Pyle Scholar and a Hutton Honors College graduate. Mary Kate has wanted to be a journalist for as long as she can remember.
In West Texas, she covered local and state government, severe weather, and community recovery, including devastating Central Texas floods near Kerrville. Her reporting and anchoring earned Texas Association of Broadcasters awards for Best Breaking News and Best Continuing Coverage, along with two Edward R. Murrow Awards for Continuing Coverage. Beyond the newsroom, she was honored with the Odessa Heritage Award for exceptional community service.
Mary Kate believes in purposeful, community minded storytelling. Off the clock, she’s exploring new restaurants, swimming, reading with her cat, Leo, and spending time with loved ones.
