ATLANTA (ANF/Gray News) — Georgia authorities are investigating a deadly crash that took the life of a United States Postal Service worker Monday night.

The DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the employee as 40-year-old Tinisha Cade.

A neighbor who knew Cade says she was a mother of four and her family members showed up at the scene following the crash.

“She has a lot of kids. Four children. And they were very sad, the family filled the block up with their cars,” the neighbor said.

The USPS says it will be providing counseling services to co-workers at one of its post offices.

“The Postal Service is deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a postal family member,” a spokesperson said. “Our thoughts are with their family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.”

Neighbors say Cade was a friendly face in the neighborhood, always stopping to say hello.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the family because she was a very nice mail carrier, I mean, we literally just saw her,” neighbor Angela Lewis said. “I am so sorry to her family. So sorry.”

Another neighbor, Mary Kate Hamilton, added, “She was very nice. She spoke to everybody. She was really friendly, and this is not her route often, but she would a lot of times sub for other drivers.”

According to DeKalb County police, the collision occurred in a Belvedere Park neighborhood.

A woman who lives nearby says she heard a loud boom around 7 p.m. She ran outside, heard someone from a gray car screaming in the street, and saw Cade’s postal truck overturned.

Neighbors rushed out to help, fearing the worst for the worker who had just delivered their mail.

Multiple USPS workers also came to the crash scene, still in uniform, grieving, sharing that it was their friend and co-worker who lost her life in the crash.

Police did not immediately say what caused the collision, but it remains under investigation.
