Preacher arrested on molestation charges

A South Carolina preacher is being held without bond in Livingston Parish, accused of molesting a child.

LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (WAFB) - A South Carolina preacher is being held without bond in Livingston Parish, accused of molesting a child.

The reported molestation allegedly happened when Doug McDaris, 74, lived and worked in Louisiana. He served as pastor of Oakview Baptist Church in Livingston two decades ago.

McDaris, now a pastor at New Beginnings Church in Six Miles, South Carolina, was arrested in Pickens County, SC, after the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office issued an arrest warrant.

He was extradited to Louisiana and booked at the Livingston Parish Detention Center on Friday, March 27.

He’s facing two charges of molestation of a juvenile. He was granted a bond amount of $100,000 for one charge, but is being held without bond on another molestation charge.
