Rouses Supermarkets acquires 10 Winn-Dixie stores, including in central

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Rouses Markets announced a significant expansion across Louisiana and Mississippi, with the acquisition of 10 Winn-Dixie store locations from Southeastern Grocers, LLC (SEG), parent company of Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket.

The acquisition includes stores in both Central and Gramercy, Louisiana. The transition to Rouses Markets is anticipated to be completed in early 2026.

Each of the acquired stores will be rebranded under the Rouses Markets banner.

“We are proud to welcome these stores, their team members, and their customers into the Rouses Markets family,” said Donny Rouse Jr., third-generation CEO of Rouses Markets.

Rouse highlighted the strategic importance of the new locations: “These locations in New Orleans East, Destrehan, Franklinton, Gramercy, and Central, Louisiana, and Hattiesburg, Mississippi are all areas we have looked at for a long time. We are also strengthening our presence in Marrero, Covington, Mandeville, and Kenner, which continue to grow and are important markets for us. Our goal is to make it easier for more customers to shop with us close to home.”

Major remodels are planned for the Hattiesburg and Central stores immediately after the transition, with all ten stores slated for upgrades over the next few years to reflect the Rouses theme.

With these ten new locations, Rouses Markets will operate 76 stores across Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.
