Taylor Swift makes surprise visit to children in hospital ahead of 35th birthday
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV/Gray News) - Fresh off her record-breaking Eras Tour, Taylor Swift decided to lift the spirits of some children in Kansas City.
Swift spent part of Thursday visiting children and their families at Children’s Mercy Hospital. The superstar visited kids in the hospital on the hematology and oncology floors.
Hospital employees said Swift spent at least an hour meeting children and fans.
People at the hospital at the time of her visit said she sang to, and with, patients.
One of the patients Swift dropped in to see said the visit was one of the most unexpected surprises ever.
“Baylee was chosen since she requests Taylor songs during her uncomfortable procedures! Ya’ll, she is amazing!” Baylee’s mother, Melissa Nuzum, said. “She gave Baylee a signed copy of her Eras Tour book and accepted a gift from Baylee (a diamond art picture) as well.”
Baylee’s mother said she cried after Swift left because her daughter hadn’t smiled so much in a while.
“Thank you, Taylor, and those involved at Children’s Mercy that helped make this happen,” Nuzum said.
Other families who met Swift shared similar reactions.
“Definitely a shock. She’s now the most famous person I’ve met,” said patient Riley Green about the meeting.
Her mother, Missy Slover, added, “We’ll remember it for a lifetime.”
Swift is in Kansas City to visit her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, ahead of her 35th birthday which is on Friday.
