Top Broome administration official to leave post

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - A top staffer in Mayor Sharon Weston Broome’s administration is stepping down. Assistant Chief Administrative Officer Courtney Scott’s resignation will take effect next week, sources told the WAFB I-TEAM.
Officials in Broome’s administration have so far refused to explain the reason behind Scott’s resignation.
Requests for copies of her resignation letter or documents related to Scott being placed on leave prior to that resignation have been withheld from the public pending an “ongoing investigation.” It remains unclear what sparked that investigation.
The WAFB I-TEAM first contacted the Mayor’s Office in early July asking for Scott’s employment status. City-Parish spokesman Mark Armstrong said Parish Attorney Greg Rome would be the proper person to answer the I-TEAM’s questions.
Rome ignored requests for comment.
Armstrong said late Tuesday that Scott submitted her resignation earlier in July, but again said Rome would be the proper person to answer questions about why Scott chose to step away.
Scott did not respond to requests for comment.
