Summer Meals Program begins for Baton Rouge area
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, and OneRouge CAFÉ have teamed up to provide free meals for children in the area.
The 2024 EBRPSS Summer Meals Program, running May 28 through August 2, will offer free breakfast and lunch to children age 18 and younger.
“The EBRPSS Summer Feeding Program reflects a collective commitment to the well-being of Baton Rouge students, providing them with access to nourishing meals essential for their growth and development. This program helps ensure that no child in our community faces hunger during the summer months,” said Mayor-President Broome.
Families can find locations of the feeding sites throughout the community by using the interactive online map.
No application is required to get meals and drop-ins are encouraged.
The meals will be offered on-site Monday through Thursday, excluding Monday, June 17, and Thursday, July 4.
