JACKSON, LA (WAFB) - A Jackson woman accused of trying to sell her infant last year will not be prosecuted.

The state Attorney General's Office has decided not to prosecute 26-year-old Ruby Renee Havard.

Havard had faced charges of attempted sale of a minor child after being arrested by Jackson police back in January.

A spokeswoman for the Attorney General's Office says they received new evidence from witnesses that was not originally provided to police.

Based on that new evidence, they have decided there is reasonable doubt surrounding the charges, so the case has been dropped.
