The Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office now has a suspect for who may have shot a star football player over the weekend in Maringouin.
Detectives say 21-year-old Brandon Johnson is the man who pulled the trigger, lodging a bullet inside Aaron Woolfolk's head - barely missing his skull.
According to detectives, they were working a fight at the Masonic Lodge in Maringouin when they received reports that someone was shot. They believe Woolfolk was at the party, left when the fight broke out and was shot by Johnson on his way home. They are still trying to piece together what prompted the shooting.
Woolfolk, a running back for the North Iberville Bears, underwent surgery Monday to remove the bullet. 9News spoke with Woolfolk's mom who says Aaron made it through surgery just fine.
Another teen with Woolfolk was hit in the head with a board. He is also recovering at a local hospital. Both Woolfolk and the other teen are expected to fully recover.
