Former Republican Congressman Mark Foley of Florida says he has checked himself into a rehabilitation facility and is undergoing treatment for alcoholism.
In a statement released in Florida by his attorney, Foley says, "I strongly believe that I am an alcoholic and have accepted the need for immediate treatment for alcoholism and other behavioral problems."
Foley resigned from Congress last week, amid reports of sexually-charged on-line correspondence with boys working as congressional pages.
One of the boys he reportedly e-mailed was a 16-year-old from Monroe. The boy worked as a page for Louisiana Congressman Rodney Alexander.
