Agents Raid Chiropractic Clinic

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) says an on-going criminal investigation is what led them and other federal agents to raid the offices of a Baton Rouge chiropractor Thursday morning.

Patients and workers at the two locations of the Goff Chiropractic clinics on Plank and Jones Creek Road arrived at the offices today to see them swarming with federal agents.

Cyndi Nguyen reports that the scene outside of Goff Chiropractic Clinic on Plank Road and Dalton Street early Thursday morning was anything but business as usual.

One by one, workers and patients were turned away. Instead, the business was crowded with FBI, Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and drug enforcement agents hauling away boxes and boxes of office files.

When one truck filled with boxes of files and left, the feds filled up another truck. Patients who came for their usual appointments at this clinic say this was all unexpected.

Doug Benoit, a patient at the clinic, said he tried to get in, but the police in the back said the clinic was closed and to reschedule his appointment.

In addition to office files, the feds confiscated computer equipment including hard drives and fax machines.

Agents from the FBI, IRS, and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) were also at another Goff Chiropractic Clinic located on Jones Creek Road. Workers and patients at this location got much of the same treatment.

Doctor Michael Goff operates the two clinics. After numerous attempts today, we've been unable to reach Dr. Goff for comment.

The FBI says no arrests have been made in the case.
