BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority (EBRPHA) released a statement Thursday saying they've applied for 64 tenant protective vouchers to help relocate the residents of a blighted apartment complex, Elmgrove Garden Apartments.
The vouchers will allow residents to relocate to other available housing.
EBRPHA is working with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Louisiana Housing Corporation (LHC) to obtain the vouchers and determine residents' eligibility.
The three organizations, along with Councilwoman Chauna Banks, hosted a meeting for Elmgrove residents to discuss the relocation process.
HUD will contract with a relocation firm to help each of the 64 families find new housing.
Elmgrove residents who need assistance should contact Janie Anderson, director of Assisted Housing, at 225-923-8100 ext. 3201, or email email@example.com.
WAFB has been investigating this particular apartment complex since 2014. We've discovered deplorable living conditions, such as roach infestations, busted pipes, unsafe railings, and no air conditioning.
