BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Senior tight end at LSU, Foster Moreau, has been given a special honor this football season. He'll be wearing the #18 jersey for the Tigers, the team announced Friday night.
Many other star LSU players have worn the #18 jersey. The tradition started back in 2003 with Matt Mauck after he helped lead the Tigers to their first national championship since 1958. After Mauck, ten others were given the honor of wearing the jersey, making Moreau the 11th.
Following the end of his college career, Mauck handed the jersey to fullback Jacob Hester, who led the team to win another national championship in 2007. Hester had high praise for the decision, using his Twitter account to voice his support for Moreau wearing the jersey.
On Saturday, LSU hits the practice field for the first time this season.
