PLAQUEMINE, LA (WAFB) - Authorities in Plaquemine responded to a fire on Sunday caused by a flare tower that collapsed at a pipeline plant.
The Plaquemine Fire Department said the fire started at the Boardwalk Louisiana Midstream Choctaw facility at 11 a.m. The fire was burning on the ground after the tower had collapsed.
Firefighters were cautious of the scene since they feared the fire could have spread to fuel wellheads near the tower.
Authorities said there were no injuries involved in the fire. There were no evacuations.
Boardwalk Louisiana Midstream Vice President Mercy Kamps said in a statement that the cause of the fire is unknown and still under investigation.
