BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A bakery in Baton Rouge was destroyed by fire early Wednesday morning.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened at El Paste Dorado Panaderia Bakery on Florida Street at North Ardenwood Drive around 4 a.m.

Curt Monte with BRFD said no one was inside at the time and there have been no injuries.

He added a gas line ruptured inside the building after the fire began and the roof eventually caved in. Firefighters were also pushed back when a power line fell on the ground and was live, according to Monte.

Firemen were able to keep the flames from spreading to any nearby buildings.

The fire was under control by 6 a.m. However, heavy equipment was brought in to help spread debris, so firefighters continued to work on hot spots. All crews were gone from the scene by 8:45 a.m.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined. The investigation is ongoing.
