Aluminum ladders recalled for fall hazard

Several models of aluminum ladders are being recalled because of a fall hazard.

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission released the recall details for the Werner multipurpose telescoping aluminum ladders on June 20, 2018. The ladders can break while in use, posing a risk of falling.

Werner had received a report of a person injured after the ladder broke while in use.

The recall covers about 78,000 units and involves five models of the ladder that can be used in five different positions. USCPSC reports the ladders were sold at Home Depot and Lowe's locations from April 2018 through May 2018.

The date code for the ladder product is either 121744XX or 011844XX. To find the stamped date code, check the inside of the outer leg of the ladder, beneath the bottom step. The model number is printed on a label located on the side of the ladder rail. The recalled ladders have a load capacity of 375 pounds.

Anyone who has purchased one of these ladders is advised to immediately return the ladder for a full refund.
