Driver faces negligent homicide charge in crash that killed bicyclist in Ponchatoula

PONCHATOULA, LA (WAFB) - Police have arrested a driver in connection with a crash that left a bicyclist dead in August.
The Ponchatoula Police Department reported David Brunet, 33, of Folsom, is charged with negligent homicide in the death of Justin Settoon, 29, of Ponchatoula.
According to investigators, the crash happened on West Pine Street in Ponchatoula on August 29. They said Settoon died at the hospital the next morning.
Police said Settoon had the green light when he tried to ride his bicycle across the street in the pedestrian crosswalk, which is legal. They added Brunet ran a red light and hit Settoon with his Dodge truck.
Authorities reported Brunet gave a blood sample, which was sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.
They added more charges are pending while they await the test results.
