Bond remains at nearly $1M for infamous contractor accused of fraud

(WAFB) - A contractor accused of more than 100 fraud charges across several parishes had a bond reduction hearing Thursday, April 20.

Judge Elizabeth Wolfe denied the motion to reduce Matthew Morris' bond after the state objected to the motion. Morris' bond remains at $890,000.

Morris, 39, is facing charges in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, and Livingston Parishes. In Livingston Parish, Morris has been indicted on 51 charges, including charges for residential contractor fraud, misapplication of payments, and extortion, among many other charges.

In Ascension Parish, Morris has been indicted on 84 charges of a similar nature.

Morris is currently being held in Livingston Parish and will be facing more charges in EBR Parish.
