Islamic Center of Baton Rouge, OLOL and LSU MSU hosts weekend blood drive
BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - If you're looking for a way to give back this weekend, consider donating blood.
The Islamic Center of Baton Rouge is partnering with Our Lady of the Lake and LSU's Muslim Student Association to host a community blood drive this weekend.
This will be the 9th semi-annual blood drive the organizations have partnered to host.
There will be food and refreshment for attendees. Donors should eat a healthy meal, bring a picture ID, and be at least 17-years-old.
Individuals who are 16-years-old can donate blood with parental consent.
Organizers said they want people to come donate blood and learn about the Muslim community in Baton Rouge.
"For those who donate blood we will have a nice BBQ lunch for them, we will have a t-shirt for them, we will have three iPads to giveaway," said Zee Muhamed, President of the Islamic Center of Baton Rouge. "We have wonderful things and they will come and at least know who the Muslims are in Baton Rouge. We always believe in giving back to our community and this is our way to give back to our community."
The blood drive will be held between 2-8 p.m. at the Islamic Center of Baton Rouge. It is located at 820 W. Chimes St.
