FRENCH SETTLEMENT, LA (WAFB) - For victims who've lost everything in the flood, it's the little things that count, like having something to wear.
On Saturday, October 29, flood victims got some help with rebuilding their wardrobe in French Settlement. Victims got to search through a truckload of donated shirts, jeans, and skirts. The mayor says they had a steady stream of people coming through St. Joseph's Catholic Church all morning.
"This is helping out our flood victims so much, the whole Livingston Parish, not just this area. And anybody that came in was saying, 'Give me something that flooded.' So it's helping so many," said Toni Guitrau, mayor of French Settlement.
Guitrau says crews remained at the church until victims stopped showing up or until they ran out of clothes, but she says people continued to show up throughout the afternoon.
