BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana unveiled a brand new anti-litter campaign Thursday.
The campaign is changing the state's slogan to "Love the Boot, Don't Pollute!" For at least 25 years, the slogan has been "Don't trash Louisiana."
First lady Donna Edwards and Dr. Chuck Carr Brown, secretary of the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality, created a sticker ceremony to announce the change.
"And pick up and teach them what litter is about, by removing litter from our communities and put them in the trashcan," Edwards said.
"They actually started a recycling program at the Governor's Mansion. When I stepped in as secretary, unbelievably, we actually didn't have a recycling program in this building," Brown said.
The new slogan won a contest among volunteer ad agencies, and Octagon Media of Baton Rouge had the winning slogan.
Louisiana law puts the anti-litter sticker on every state car.
