Drugs, stolen handgun seized near Parks Primary School; man arrested

ST. MARTIN PARISH, LA (WAFB) - On the morning of Thursday, September 22, a man was arrested after a stolen handgun and drugs were found at his residence.
Following an investigation of reports of suspected illegal drug activity, narcotics agents with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office obtained a search warrant after undercover agents purchased illegal drugs at a home on Mouton Ave. in Parks. The search warrant was executed early Thursday morning.
Officers found Eric Ledet, 26, of Breaux Bridge, in possession of marijuana, hydrocodone, a stolen handgun, and cash. Ledet was arrested less than 200 feet from Parks Primary School.
Ledet is charged with the following:
- Possession with the intent to distribute schedule I controlled substances (marijuana)
- Possession with the intent to distribute schedule III controlled substances (hydrocodone)
- Illegal carrying of weapons in the presence of controlled substances
- Illegal possession of a stolen firearm
- Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses
- Violation of uniform controlled dangerous substance law drug free zone
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
Ledet was booked into the St. Martin Parish Correctional Center. Currently, no bond has been set.
