BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana officials said there will be no hurricane preparedness sales tax holiday this year.

"The annual sales tax exemption known as the Hurricane Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday is not among the exemptions and exclusions considered operative and in effect for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2016," the Louisiana Department of Revenue stated in a written release.

Officials added the holiday, which is usually held the last weekend in May, is not in the exemptions and exclusions declared "operative and in effect" by laws passed in the special session.

Items such as batteries, flashlights and generators were normally exempt of the five percent state sales tax during the tax free holiday weekend.
