MORGAN CITY, LA (WAFB) - Narcotics detectives said a drop scheme investigation at a parish jail resulted in the arrests of several people, some of them members of the same family.

The St. Mary Parish Sheriff's Office reported the arrests of the following people:

Brian Derouen, 28, of Bayou Vista
Brad Derouen, 25, of Bayou Vista
Rhonda Derouen, 48, of Bayou Vista
Harley Rentrop, 22, of Bayou Vista
Jessica Bourgeois, 35, of Amelia

Deputies reported Brian and Brad Derouen are brothers. They added Rhonda Derouen is their mother. They also stated Rentrop is Brad Derouen's girlfriend.

Authorities said a security team at the parish jail found suboxone strips hidden on greeting card envelopes that were sent to the jail in early February.

Detectives said they found evidence Rentrop had sent the drugs to Brian Derouen, an inmate in the jail.

Officials said later in the month, the security team found two illegal packages in an area of the jail open to the public. It is believed the packages were dropped on purpose. Deputies said synthetic cannabinoids, marijuana, tobacco and rolling papers in the packages.

Detectives reported finding evidence that pointed to Rhonda Derouen, Brad Derouen and Rentrop dropping off the packages. They added the items were intended for Brian Derouen.

Investigators said they developed evidence that Bourgeois supplied the synthetic drugs found in the packages.

All of the suspects were booked into the parish jail. Bond has not been set.
