BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Louisiana State Police have seen a spike in accidents involving motorcycles.
Troopers want everyone out on the road to pay attention.
Troopers say more people are willing to take a ride with the warmer temperatures. However that also increases the risk for accidents.
They say simple things can keep people safe, like wearing reflective orange or green. People riding motorcycles are also reminded to always have on a helmet approved by DOTD and wear long sleeves and pants.
"You have to remember not to exceed your skill level when you're riding these motorcycles," said TFC. Bryan Lee with LSP. "Depending upon what type of roadway you're on, remember to reduce your speed. If you're riding in a curve, if you can not safely navigate those curves, you need to slow down."
Troopers say busy roadways can also be tricky, especially during rush hour.
State Police are also warning everyone to keep an eye out for fellow motorists.
