BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - A group tasked with coming up with transportation improvements released a report on the results of an analysis of major regional infrastructure projects in the Baton Rouge area.
Capital Region Industry for Suitable Infrastructure Solutions (CRISIS) found four main project priorities to help alleviate the traffic problem. They are:
I-10 Widening - from one lane to two lanes in both directions through Baton Rouge (Cost - $350 million)
Ascension Commuter Route - I-10 or Airline (Cost - $125 million to $180 million)
New River Crossing South of I-10 Bridge - with LA 30 Widening (Untolled Cost - $1.1 billion to $1.6 billion, Tolled Cost - $830 million to $1.3 billion)
Increase Use of US 190 Bridge - BUMP or North Bypass (Untolled Cost - $775 million to $780 million, Tolled Cost - $300 million to $305 million)
Officials said they looked at the projected reduction in Vehicle Hours of Travel (VHT) and "best available cost estimates" to help prioritize possible projects.
