BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - One person is dead after a shed caught fire early Friday morning, according to officials.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Coroner's Office said the victim is presumed to be Earl Howard, 61. A final confirmation of identity is pending dental record verification, which is standard for cases involving fire victims.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on Madison Avenue near North Foster Drive around 2 a.m.
The coroner's office said an autopsy showed Howard died from smoke inhalation. He has classified the case as an accidental death.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
