Man killed after falling off bicycle into oncoming traffic

LAFAYETTE, LA (WAFB) - On November 1, 2015, at approximately 8:15 p.m., Lafayette Police were called to a crash involving a bicycle in the 1700 block of West Congress Street.
According to traffic investigators, the driver of a gray 2013 Toyota Tundra was traveling westbound in the 1700 block of West Congress Street.
The driver told police he saw the bicyclist traveling on the sidewalk. As the vehicle drove near the bicyclist, the bicyclist fell directly into the path of the vehicle.
The Toyota struck the bicyclist before coming to a stop. The operator of the bike, 53-year-old Thomas S. Landry of Lafayette, was taken to the hospital where he later died.
The driver of the truck was not injured in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
