BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Investigators said they have not yet ruled out foul play after a vacant house caught fire Thursday morning.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department reported it happened on Mallard Street around 7 a.m.
Curt Monte with BRFD said firefighters reported the home was engulfed in flames when they arrived on the scene.
He added the flames appeared close to spreading to a nearby home, but firemen were able to get them under control before severe damage was done to any additional structures.
According to Monte, the home where the fire started is considered a total loss and the home next door had minimal heat damage.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
Anyone with information about the fire is urged to call 225-354-1419.
