Trinity Marine Products rescinds notification of plans to close plant
BRUSLY, LA (WAFB) - A barge manufacturing company that had notified the Louisiana Workforce Commission in August that it planned to permanently close its plan in the fall and lay off nearly 300 workers has rescinded the notification.
According to the LWC, Trinity Marine Products, Inc. in Brusly said it has obtained a contract that will allow the facility to remain open. The news release stated all 282 employees were expected to be retained.
The company had scheduled to start closing the facility on Choctaw Road in Brusly on October 23 and hoped to have everything shut down by November 30.
According to the company's website, Trinity Marine Products makes dry cargo barges, which are used to transport various products such as grain and coal and tank barges, which carry liquid cargoes.
