Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority to host electronic recycling program

BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - The Nu Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and the Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council will host the "Recycle Your Electronics Day" event.

On Saturday, October 3, from 9 a.m until 1 p.m., the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority will be collecting used electronics in the parking lot of the Nu Gamma Building at 1747 Main Street.

The recyclables that will be accepted will include computer hardware and accessories, laptops, phones, video games, printers, toner, cartridges and fax machines. They will not accept appliances, copiers, CRT's, televisions and furniture.

All of the equipment will be refurbished and discounted for low-income families, veterans, senior citizens or given to schools and community centers by the CACRC or made available for sale to the general public.

All other materials that cannot be refurbished will be recycled appropriately through Responsible Recycling standards and all hard drives will be erased to the top national standard.

The event will only be for individuals. Any business and individuals who miss the event can drop off their electronics at the CACRC's warehouse located at 1400 Main Street, Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
