ROBERT, LA (WAFB) - Authorities are asking for the public's help in identifying a woman who was killed while riding her bicycle Monday night.

Louisiana State Police reported the crash happened on US 190 on the Tangipahoa River Bridge in Robert a little after 10:30 p.m.

Troopers said the victim is white and appears to be in her mid to late 20s. They added she has long brown hair and brown eyes. They reported she also has a red Egyptian Ankh tattoo on her left ankle.

According to investigators, the woman was riding westbound on US 190 crossing the bridge when she was rear-ended by an SUV. LSP reported the impact threw the woman off the bike. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office.

Troopers said the bicycle did not have any lamps or rear reflectors and the woman was wearing dark clothing. The driver was not ticketed.

Troopers added they do not suspect the bike rider or the driver was impaired, but per standard procedure, blood samples were taken from both and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

Anyone with information about the identity of the cyclist is urged to call Louisiana State Police Troop L at 985-893-6235.
