MOBILE, AL (WAFB) - It's a Spring Break to remember for a group of Louisiana college students, but not for the reason they hoped.
Deputies in Mobile say they caught four teenagers hauling a trailer full of booze along 1-10. They told deputies they were on their way to Gulf Shores.
The teens were pulled over because the pick-up truck towing the trailer had expired tags. Deputies found the alcohol while searching the trailer.
"Well I would like to say that it's not common this time of year, however it is," said Lt. Paul Burch with Mobile County Sheriff's Office. "And we hope by intercepting this amount of alcohol that we will have prevented from future event while they are on spring break."
The trailer contained more than 100 18-packs of beer and several containers of hard liquor.
Deputies say the teens were not drunk, but will be charged with minor in possession. The Sheriff's Office says it can not release the names of the teens until they have been formally charged.
