BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) - Republican and Democrat state lawmakers are used to fighting over votes, but in a few weeks they will compete to benefit the families of fallen soldiers.
LSU's Tiger Stadium will be the stage for the 2nd annual "Truce for Troops" Bowl as legislators face off in a flag football game. The fundraiser is hosted by the House Special Committee on Military and Veteran Affairs.
The money raised will go to support the families of the four Louisiana National Guardsmen killed last month in a Black Hawk helicopter crash during a training mission.
The game will be on Sunday, April 19. Tickets are $50 for adults and $10 for students. Children 12 and under will get in for free.
The tickets cover admission, behind the scenes tour of the LSU football facility and reception after the game. Gates will open at 2 p.m. with kickoff at 4 p.m.
